This month’s topic - "12' Floor-to-Floor Ceilings, Existing B-Occupancy: How a World-Class Organ Procurement Surgical Facility Fits"
Description: Midwest Transplant Network (MTN) is a federally certified, not-for-profit Organ Procurement Organization serving Kansas and western Missouri. The primary functions provided by MTN at the Westwood location were tissue recovery, laboratory testing, and administrative functions, while organ recovery was performed at various regional hospitals.
To improve efficiency while continuing its mission of saving lives by honoring the gift of organ and tissue donations with dignity and compassion, Midwest Transplant Network planned to integrate organ recovery services into its headquarters in Westwood. This consolidation of services required extensive renovation and expansion to support the addition of a new Organ Recovery Suite, Donor Care Unit and required support services.
